International Airlines Group (IAG), the parent company of British Airways, announced it will launch a new low-cost, long-haul airline brand called Level.
The new airline will operate out of Barcelona, Spain, and will officially launch in June. Level will travel to destinations including Los Angeles and San Francisco, California; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Prices for one-way premium economy tickets start at $149 and include a checked bag, meals, seat selection and the latest movie releases. Regular economy passengers will have to purchase their preferred amenities from a menu. Tickets officially went on sale Friday.
IAG officials announced the Level airline will operate two new Airbus A330 aircraft with brand-specific livery, and the planes will be operated by IAG-owned Iberia airline, which will help create 250 jobs based in Barcelona.
Each aircraft will be fitted with 293 economy and 21 premium economy seats.
"Level is an exciting new IAG airline brand which will bring a stylish and modern approach to flying at prices that are even more affordable," IAG CEO Willie Walsh said in a statement.
"It will benefit from having the strength of one of the world's largest airline groups behind it. Level will become IAG's fifth main airline brand alongside Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia and Vueling. It will complement our existing airline portfolio and further diversify our current customer base."

The addition of the new Level carrier comes as other European carriers like Eurowings and Norwegian Airlines announced plans to offer more low-cost flights to the United States, according to BBC.com.
"Barcelona is Vueling's home base and this will allow customers to connect from Vueling's extensive European network onto LEVEL's long haul flights," Walsh continued. "This is just the start. We're really excited about the opportunities for expansion and we plan to bring LEVEL to other European destinations."
