At Air France, corporate social responsibility is at the heart of every purchasing decision. The company’s procurement strategy is guided by a commitment to generating positive impact locally, sustainably, and for people. This vision is embodied in a proactive policy supporting the sheltered and adapted employment sector, which promotes the inclusion of people with disabilities in the workforce.

With over 6,000 active suppliers, Air France’s Procurement Department adopts a proactive approach: prioritizing local distribution channels, supporting the local economy, and fostering long-term partnerships with organizations such as ESATs (i.e., organizations dedicated to People with Disabilities employment) and “Entreprise Adaptée” (i.e., companies employing a minimum of 55% of people with disabilities).

Acting Locally and Sustainably

As the largest private employer in the Île-de-France region, Air France has a deep-rooted local presence and places environmental and societal impact at the forefront of its purchasing criteria. Focusing on local procurement not only supports the regional economy but also minimizes transport-related emissions.

As a signatory of the "Terres d’Envol Commitment Pact" and the Paris Terre d’Envol agreement, Air France is dedicated to promoting sustainable and responsible purchasing within the region. This commitment strengthens the company’s local footprint in areas such as employment, inclusion, and environmental stewardship. Within this context, the partnership between Air France and ANRH stands out as a prime example of the company’s capacity to unite economic performance, social innovation, and a strong commitment to people.

A Successful Collaboration: Air France and ANRH

Since 2009, Air France has partnered with ANRH, a pioneer in sustainable employment for people with disabilities in France and a leading figure in the social and solidarity economy. As a non-profit organization recognized as being of public utility, ANRH is one of the largest employers of people with disabilities in the region and provides businesses with fully customized industrial, tertiary, and service offerings. Its model is built on a strong conviction: enabling sustainable employment for all individuals with disabilities, visible or invisible.

Together, Air France and ANRH have developed the industrial laundry facility in Tremblay-en-France (Seine-Saint-Denis), dedicated entirely to processing blankets for Air France’s long-haul flights.

At Tremblay-en-France, ANRH employs nearly 90 permanent staff, 68% of whom are people with disabilities—well above the 55% threshold required for adapted companies. Since the opening of this facility, Air France and ANRH have created more than 860 jobs, the majority held by people with disabilities. At Tremblay, employees work in an environment specifically designed to foster their professional growth and well-being, actively contributing to collective performance.

Every day, up to 40,000 blankets, rising to 60,000 at peak season, are washed, repackaged, and inspected by ANRH teams, representing nearly 17 million blankets annually. As a result, 100% of Air France’s long-haul flight blankets are processed through the ANRH facility, ensuring impeccable quality and exemplary traceability.

This partnership is fully aligned with Air France’s responsible procurement approach and demonstrates the company’s commitment to social inclusion.

The partnership between Air France and ANRH confirms that operational excellence, economic performance, and positive social impact can go hand in hand. Built on trust, high standards, and co-development, this collaboration creates a virtuous circle in which every stakeholder (customers, employees, the company, and the community) benefits.

The adapted and sheltered employment sector is an integral part of Air France’s procurement policy, enabling the company to take concrete action for a more inclusive society while meeting the rigorous quality and performance standards required.
