Delta Air Lines announced it would add around 35,000 seats
to its 2023-24 winter flight schedule to Latin America and the Caribbean.
The 30 percent increase in available seats compared to last
year's winter season includes added Saturday frequencies to nine destinations
in the region, such as Guatemala and Liberia, Costa Rica, in Central America,
as well as San Juan, Puerto Rico.
By enhancing flight frequencies from six of its hubs in the
United States, Delta boasts more journeys from Atlanta to St. Thomas, St.
Maarten, Guatemala, San Jose, Liberia and San Juan.
Other routes with added flights this winter include Cancun
to New York City’s JFK, San Juan to Boston and Detroit to Punta Cana, Montego
Bay and San Juan. The airline is also adding service from Minneapolis to Punta
Cana, Montego Bay, San Juan and Liberia.
Delta will begin flying the added Saturday routes seasonally,
starting on January 13. The additional flights will operate on varying aircraft,
including the Boeing 757-200, 737-900 and 737-800, all featuring First Class,
Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin.
In addition to more Saturday frequencies, the carrier is
also adding an extra trip from Seattle to Cancun that will depart on Fridays and
return on Saturdays. This route will begin operating seasonally on December 22
on the Boeing 737-800.
Recently, the airline unveiled its largest-ever holiday
schedule, which has since been extended with many flights now available until
April 2024 and 46 destinations served, including a brand-new route to Curacao
and returning service to Cartagena, Colombia.
