Travelers can now earn frequent flier miles on unforgettable tours and experiences, thanks to Delta’s newest loyalty collaboration.
The airline has expanded its partnership with Airbnb to allow Delta SkyMiles members to earn miles on qualifying Airbnb Experiences and Services. The new earning capability builds on the companies’ existing agreement, which already awards SkyMiles for stays in Airbnb Homes.
To start earning, travelers must link their Airbnb and Delta SkyMiles accounts on deltaairbnb.com. Once the accounts are connected, travelers will unlock a 10-day booking window and see the estimated number of SkyMiles they will earn on qualifying homes, experiences, and services within the Airbnb platform.
If travelers need more time to book, or are planning another trip, they can relink their accounts to unlock another 10-day booking window.
Travelers will earn 1 mile per $1 spent on Airbnb Homes and 3 miles per $1 on qualifying Airbnb Experiences and Services. (Experiences and services provided by third-parties are not eligible for the offer.)
“By expanding how SkyMiles Members earn miles with Airbnb — from where they stay to what they do once they arrive — we continue to extend the value of SkyMiles beyond the flight and give Members more ways to turn memorable travel experiences into future trips,” said Dwight James, Delta’s senior vice president of customer engagement & loyalty, and CEO of Delta Vacations.
The ability for members to earn miles on experiences follows a growing trend among travelers, who are valuing in-person experiences more than ever before. A recent report from Delta showed that 79% of global travelers agreed that in-person experiences feel more meaningful amid the boom in AI technology.
