Pretzels
and Diet Cokes have triggered meltdowns before but this is the first we’ve
heard of a blanket.
But,
apparently, a blanket
was at the root cause of an epic tantrum from a flight attendant that ended an
international flight before it even got off the ground.
Yes,
a blanket.
A
woman on a recent Air Canada flight asked for the covering because she felt
like the cabin was too cold and the flight attendant apparently took umbrage at
the request. The flight attendant had the pilot return to the gate before the
plane had even taken off from Casablanca, Morocco for Montreal, Quebec.
Fellow
passengers were shocked.
They
felt it was such an innocuous request that they all left the flight in protest
when it returned to the gate after police came on board to remove the woman
who asked for the blanket. The flight attendant was filmed yelling, “You will
behave or we will get off!”
Turns
out that all the passengers got off.
Air
Canada subsequently canceled the flight. The airline said in a statement: “We
are taking this incident very seriously. It is under review, and we will take
appropriate action. We apologize to our customers and deeply regret that their
experience today fell far short of what they have come to expect when flying
with Air Canada.”
The
moral of the story is to dress warmly the next time you fly, because you never
know what kind of reaction you’re going to get.
It’s
just the latest
crazy thing that can happen on an airplane.
