Aviation engineers made a shocking discovery while repairing a British Airways Boeing 777-200ER plane in the United Kingdom.
During a routine maintenance check, a service engineer at London’s Gatwick Airport (LGW) found a hidden brick of cocaine stashed behind a panel in the lavatory, according to a report from The Sun.
The engineer then called the police, and UK officials at the Border Force and the National Crime Agency are investigating the matter.
The drugs were valued at about £100,000.
Before it went into the airport maintenance hangar, the plane had just operated a flight from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Gatwick.
“Those who attempt to smuggle illegal drugs into the UK should be in no doubt Border Force will find them,” a UK government spokesperson told The Sun.
