A JetBlue aircraft arriving at Boston Logan International Airport rolled off the runway and came to a stop in a grassy area Thursday morning, prompting a temporary runway closure and a federal investigation.
Flight 312, which was arriving from Chicago O’Hare International Airport, rolled off the runway after landing before coming to rest partially off the pavement, the Massachusetts State Police said in a statement.
"This morning, an arriving commercial aircraft experienced an irregular landing at Boston Logan International Airport and came to rest partially on the grass area adjacent to the runway," state police said.
No injuries were reported, and all passengers exited the Airbus A220 using stairs before being transported by bus to the terminal, officials said.
“The runway is closed at this time as the aircraft is assessed and passengers are bussed to the terminal,” Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) noted at the time, according to ABC News.
NBC 10 News reported that the incident caused the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to issue a temporary ground stop at Boston Logan, with departing flights delayed by about 30 minutes on average.
The FAA has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the runway excursion.
