The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating following a rash of blown tire incidents involving passenger jets at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.
On Monday, an American Airlines flight traveling from New York's LaGuardia Airport blew out two tires upon landing at O'Hare around 2 p.m. local time.
That scary incident was preceded by a similar situation involving an inbound United Airlines plane.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Passengers were deplaned on the taxiway using airstairs and bussed to the terminal.
"We thank our team members for their professionalism and we apologize to our customers for their experience," American said in a statement following Monday's incident, which involved a Boeing 737 aircraft.
The incidents prompted temporary runway closures to clear debris, but come just days after a United flight was forced to abort its takeoff from O'Hare after suffering blown tires.
The string of blown tire scares comes amid flight cuts at O'Hare in an effort to reduce disruptions during the busy summer travel period.
