A woman has filed a lawsuit against JetBlue for what she claims was an incident that happened two years ago.
The woman, 60-year-old Jacqueline Crowley, of
Scituate, Massachusetts, said she suffered life-changing head injuries as a result of
the plane's brakes failing and the need for a sudden stop.
She is seeking unspecified damages.
JetBlue did not comment.
The lawsuit was filed in federal court in
Brooklyn. JetBlue is based in nearby Queens. Crowley claims the incident happened in May 2022 after a flight from Boston to Charleston, South
Carolina.
She said in the suit that the plane “came
to an extremely abrupt stop while traveling at a high rate of speed,” and said the
pilot informed passengers that the plane’s “brakes had failed and the emergency
brakes had kicked in, causing acute concussion and chronic post-concussion
syndrome.”
She accused the carrier of negligence.
“Her head injury completely upended her
life and rendered her unable to work,” her attorney said, adding, “two years
later, she continues to suffer from chronic ringing in her ears as a result of
the impact.”
Crowley noted that "there were children on the
plane, and I especially recall a young couple with a baby girl just a few rows
up from me. What about that family? I hope they are ok.”
