Spirit
Airlines has announced the addition of more than a dozen new and resuming nonstop flights from
Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) to destinations around the U.S.
and Puerto Rico.
These additional routes, currently available for booking,
bring Spirit’s DTW service to 40 destinations representing the most nonstop
routes in the airline’s history.
John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit
Airlines, said in a statement, “We’re adding even more popular travel options to
our Detroit route map, giving our DTW guests a variety of new destinations to discover across the country and
beyond.”
He added, “Savvy Motor City travelers will soon enjoy even
more options to enjoy Spirit’s elevated experience at a value unmatched by
other carriers.”
Nonstop service from DTW include Austin (AUS), Birmingham
(BHM), Charleston (CHS), Hartford (BDL), Louisville (SDF), Kansas City (MCI),
Milwaukee (MKE), Norfolk (ORF), Phoenix (PHX), Punta Cana (PUJ), Richmond
(RIC), Salt Lake City (SLC), San Diego (SAN), San Juan (SJU) and St. Louis (STL).
Most of the new flights will launch June 12-13, 2025,
followed by flights to Kansas City and Norfolk beginning May 8 and nonstops to
Charleston starting on May 9.
Earlier in March, Spirit announced nonstop service from DTW
to Baltimore (BWI), Charlotte (CLT), Memphis (MEM), Pensacola (PNS),
Raleigh-Durham (RDU) and San Antonio (SAT) that will begin in May.
By June, Spirit will operate up to 48 peak-day departures
from DTW.
