Good news for budget travelers looking to score an affordable vacation this summer: airfare prices are dropping for summer 2025 travel.
In fact, average flight prices for this summer are 7% cheaper compared to last year, according to a new report from travel search site Kayak.
More than 100 destinations are seeing more affordable flights for summer travel, the report says, with some international long-haul destinations seeing the most significant price drops.
But destinations in almost every region of the globe were seeing reductions in airfare, with flights to Asia 11% cheaper than last year, airfares to Europe 8% cheaper, and prices for flights to Africa dropping by 5%.
European cities that are popular with summer tourists are seeing double-digit drops in airfare, including Stockholm (17% cheaper), Milan (15% cheaper), Copenhagen (15% cheaper), and Berlin (13% cheaper).
The most affordable summer airfares are actually on flights to vacation hotspots within the United States. Average round-trip flights to popular beach getaways and family destinations like Orlando, Tampa, and Fort Lauderdale are all under $300 this summer. For international trips, some of the most affordable options are in North America, with average prices for round-trip flights to Mexico City and Toronto under $415.
If you want to score the cheapest tickets possible, pay attention to your travel dates. The report says the lowest domestic fares are available from May 19 to June 8 and August 11 to 31. For the cheapest international fares, book your travel for August 4 to 31.
Travelers can even save on trips during busy holiday weekends this summer. For the first time in years, flights for July Fourth are trending cheaper, to the tune of 10% price drops compared to 2024; airfares for Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekend are also more affordable than last year, too.
Here’s a look at some of the most affordable destinations for cheap flights this summer, according to Kayak’s data.
