As the busy summer travel season begins with the Memorial Day weekend holiday, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is expected to screen 18.3 million passengers at airports around the country.
The Memorial Day weekend holiday period, according to TSA, runs from Thursday, May 21 through Wednesday, May 27 and will kick off what the administration expects to be a busy summer travel season, with the 2026 FIFA World Cup and America 250 events.
TSA encourages travelers to check to ensure they have a REAL ID or other acceptable form of identification, like a valid passport, when going through security screenings. Failure to provide an acceptable form of identification will result in paying a $45 fee to use TSA ConfirmID.
“Our TSA teams are completely staffed, so passengers should experience minimal wait times and have an enjoyable trip through our airports and on to their travel destinations,” said TSA Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Administrator, Ha McNeill.
