United Latest Airline to Find Fake Engine Parts Amid Growing Scandal

United Airlines confirmed it is the latest and largest airline to allegedly find fake parts inside two of its aircraft engines.

If true, it is part of a growing scandal that has engulfed the aviation industry and at the center of the storm is supplier AOG Technics.

Southwest Airlines was the first to admit that it found what could be a fake part. Other airlines have come forward and said the same thing.

A United spokesperson said the fake parts were discovered on two different planes during a maintenance check. The engines were removed and replaced before the planes could take to the air again.

United said it would continue to unravel the growing mystery as soon as more information becomes available. The airline did say that the fake parts were part of the engine that helped control the direction of airflow inside the cabin.

Investigators said that AOG routinely provided airlines with the fake parts throughout the world, including Virgin Australia Airlines. But United is the biggest fish in the pond so far.

The fake parts were also apparently backed with fraudulent documentation.
