The Naughty Passenger Club has initiated another
member.
Although joining is a dubious honor.
An American Airlines flight from Seattle to Dallas last
month had to be diverted to Salt Lake City after a passenger became violent and
assaulted a flight attendant and tried to open the cabin doors.
Eric Nicholas Gapco apparently consumed 10 edibles
made of marijuana, had to be restrained by fellow passengers and flight crew and
was subsequently arrested.
The incident happened on July 18.
Gapco also locked himself in the restroom at one point
and propositioned a flight attendant for sex. In addition to his outburst on
the airplane, he also smashed a window in a holding cell in Salt Lake City.
He has been charged with a federal crime for
interfering with a flight.
“The safety and security of our customers and team
members is our top priority,” American Airlines told McClatchy News in a
statement. “We thank our team members for their professionalism and our
customers for their understanding.”
He is not the first
passenger to act naughty on an airplane or a cruise, and probably won’t be
the last.
