American Airlines crew members and passengers are being heralded as heroes after they jumped into action to help save a baby during a flight last week.
According to DallasNews.com, Janay Flowers was traveling last Thursday with her 11-month-old daughter, Navaeh, from Tampa to San Antonio when the child began having a seizure about 10 minutes before landing.
Flowers said the little girl developed a fever, began foaming from the mouth and her feet turned blue, causing passengers and attendants to spring into action before a medical professional on the flight could be identified.
The medical professional gave the child oxygen and tracked her pulse until she could be rushed to nearby Baylor Regional Medical Center upon landing. The baby girl was discharged after undergoing treatment and testing and was even smiling on the way to see her father in San Antonio.
In addition to American crew members helping save the child’s life during the flight, the airline ensured the family’s bags made it to their destination.
“If no one was able to help me on the flight, I don’t know what I could have done for my baby, because I was in shock,” Flowers told Dallas News. “I believe that they helped save my baby’s life.”
