An Alaska Airlines flight was canceled Tuesday after a rat was found onboard the plane.
According to The Associated Press, the Alaska flight was boarding at Oakland International Airport in California in preparation for a journey to Portland, Oregon, when a rat jumped from the jetway onto the plane.
The passengers who had already boarded the flight were removed and the airline took the plane out of service until a professional exterminator handled the situation. The aircraft was also inspected for any damage.
"An Alaska Airlines aircraft departing Oakland International Airport was canceled today due to reports of a mouse in the cockpit of the aircraft," Oakland airport spokeswoman Keonnis Taylor told the Mercury News. "The flight's 110 passengers are being accommodated as appropriate by Alaska Airlines flights from San Francisco and San Jose airports."
The majority of passengers scheduled to take the flight were rebooked by Alaska representatives on a later flight to Portland. Other travelers, including Oakland resident Ginger Hintz, were booked on other flights from San Francisco and San Jose.
In addition to the new ticket, Hintz was given a $12 food voucher.
