On Monday, Enterprise Rent-A-Car announced that it will be joining forces with the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) as a sponsor of the People Award in the 2017 Tourism for Tomorrow Awards.
For the second consecutive year, Enterprise will sponsor the People Award, which honors organizations dedicated to the long-term investment into the training and education of employees in the tourism field.
Overall, the annual WTTC awards give credit to companies with the best practices based upon the principles of environmentally friendly operations, support for the protection of cultural and natural heritage and the social and economic well-being of local people in travel destinations around the world.
"Travel and tourism careers already account for a significant part of our economy, providing an estimated 284 million jobs across the global market," Enterprise Holdings Inc. executive vice president Greg Stubblefield said in a statement. "And we are committed to helping build an even more robust and inclusive global talent pipeline through this industry-leading WTTC initiative."
For Enterprise, the dedication to the tourism industry is unwavering. Stubblefield is a member of the WTTC, the U.S. Travel Association's CEO Roundtable and the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board. As a representative of the car rental company, Stubblefield understands that travel and tourism represent one of the fastest growing segments in the global economy, and he is focused on making sure it's managed responsibly.
Overall, the WTTC's Tourism for Tomorrow Awards are meant to showcase the businesses and organizations who have used tourism as a force for good. Candidates must go through a rigorous application process, and the winners and finalists will be honored in a ceremony during WTTC's 2017 Global Summit on April 25-27 in Bangkok, Thailand.
