It forever fluctuates.
Gasoline prices, which dropped as much as 50 cents at one point compared to last year, have steadied themselves.
The pace of the decline has slowed down as the holiday weekend approaches.
So says AAA.
That’s based on the big oil companies and the expectations of a huge travel weekend. The Labor Day holiday is expected to produce a record number of travelers both by car and in the air.
Prices could also be impacted by a potential tropical storm.
"My wish is that this potential tropical storm fizzles quickly," said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. “And the arrival of September means cheaper winter-blend gasoline is almost here, which always helps take pressure off pump prices.”
Gas prices are still falling, just not as steeply or as quickly as weeks and months prior. The national average for a gallon of gas is $3.36.
That’s down two cents since last week.
