American Cruise Lines is offering a new 35-day itinerary offering travelers the chance to visit nearly all major battlefields of the American Civil War from Fort Sumter to Antietam.
The new Civil War Battlefields Cruise will begin May 4, 2024 in New Orleans and end on June 6 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, visiting thirteen states across the three major theaters of the war.
Along the way, travelers will learn the intricacies of the war with Civil War experts, including Bertram Hayes-Davis, the great-great-grandson of Jefferson Davis, who represented Mississippi in the Senate and House of Representatives before becoming the president of the Confederacy from 1861-1865.
“This cruise is one of the most holistic views of the Civil War ever offered. Guests will experience the people, places, and events of the war, as they visit the battlefields and stand where history was made,” said Bertram Hayes-Davis. “This is a unique opportunity to see the entire scope of the battles of the Civil War and put them in context to each other and the entire conflict.”
The journey spans four different waterways and water regions, from the Mississippi River to the Tennessee River, the Potomac, the East Coast Intracoastal Waterway and the Chesapeake Bay. Travelers will split their time along three different ships.
Pricing begins at $24,700; deposits of $5,000 per person are due during reservation. Inclusions include a complimentary pre-cruise stay in New Orleans, daily excursions, entertainment, all meals and beverages and a daily cocktail hour. Travelers will also receive free Wi-Fi, all hotels and transfers and tips, gratuities and port charges.
