Atlas Ocean Voyages to Offer High-Speed Wi-Fi Onboard

Reliable, high-speed Wi-Fi is reaching more and more locations these days.

And now, that even includes Atlas Ocean Voyages’ World Traveller and World Navigator shops and the company’s soon-to-launch World Voyager yacht.

In an announcement today, the company said it is enhancing onboard connectivity by partnering with the internet service provider Starlink.

In even more good news, Atlas Ocean Voyages will provide guests with a complimentary 1 GB of the new high-speed Wi-Fi on all expeditions. (Which is a big deal, as many travelers know how pricey internet plans can be onboard cruise ships.)

"Visiting with guests and travel advisors while on our yachts, I have heard firsthand how important it is for them to stay confidently connected with those back home or at the office,” James Rodriguez, president and CEO of Atlas Ocean Voyages, said in a statement.

Starlink’s Wi-Fi services are powered by lower earth (LEO) satellites that will be able to provide a stable connection to Atlas’ continuously moving expedition yachts. The new service was beta-tested in 2022 at McMurdo Station in Antarctica, and researchers who experienced the platform offered positive reviews.

“Starlink Wi-Fi delivers that reliability across the globe, including the remotest polar regions, instantly elevating the onboard experience,” Rodriguez said.

Atlas Ocean Voyages currently operates two expedition ships and is adding the third ship, World Voyager, to its fleet later this year in time for the Antarctic season. The 2020-built World Voyager is now operated by German line Nicko Cruises, a sister company to Atlas under parent Mystic Invest Holdings, based in Portugal. The ship is structurally identical sister to Atlas ships World Navigator and World Traveller.
