A man is going viral after diving into the ocean to rescue an elderly passenger during a cruise stop.
Myron Tucker, from Conway, Arkansas, helped safely recover the passenger, who was treated by the ship’s medical team and debarked at the end of the voyage in Galveston.
The incident took place while Carnival Jubilee was docked in Costa Maya, Mexico.
Videos of the rescue have racked up millions of views. In a statement shared with KATV, Carnival Cruise Line wrote that it was “aware that another guest entered the water in an effort to assist. We acknowledge the guest for their efforts.”
Tucker told KATV his parents raised him to “care for my neighbor and care for others, help with heart.”
“I don’t want to see nobody suffer,” he added. “I don’t want to see nobody lose their life, especially when God has blessed me to have the type of skills I have to save them.”
