Making money on the water.
Carnival Cruise Line again posted a million-dollar slot
tournament. It is the largest-ever casino competition for the cruise line.
Nearly 1,700 guests participated aboard the Carnival
Celebration. More than 100 players earned prizes, including a grand prize of
$500,000. The tournament was quite lucrative -- $150,000 went to the
second-place finisher and $50,000 was awarded for third place.
“Carnival has a history as an industry leader with our
casinos, and our $1M Slot Tournament not only exemplifies that but it
celebrates it,” Carnival vice president Jonathan Lask said.
“Our onboard casinos bring fun and excitement to our
Carnival Players Club members on all our ships, and this week has been a great
way to bring many of those valued guests together and amplify the enthusiasm,” Lask
continued.
The tournaments have been so successful that Carnival plans
to do it again next year.
Twice.
The first will be on Carnival Jubilee, departing Galveston,
Texas, on May 18, 2024. The second competition for 2024 will take place on the
Mardi Gras, leaving Port Canaveral on Nov. 2, 2024.
Two more tournaments are scheduled for 2025.
Current and new Carnival Players Club guests can sign up
online now.
As long as it continues to have the success it has enjoyed,
the tournaments are expected to roll over to other
ships.
