Carnival Cruise Line is already one of the leaders in the industry, but some fundamental changes to which ships are assigned to certain popular routes will increase capacities and offer unique amenities on voyages to the Caribbean.
According to a statement from Carnival, the company will be expanding its three- and four-day Bahamas cruises from Port Canaveral by 34 percent. To help increase capacity, the company is replacing Carnival Sensation with the larger Carnival Victory starting on Feb. 25, 2016.
The newer Carnival Victory will also add plenty of new features that were previously unavailable to passengers. With a 14,500-square-foot spa, four swimming pools, a 214-foot-long water slide and 18 lounges and bars, the upgrades are enticing.
Carnival Victory is currently stationed in Miami, but it will be moved to Port Canaveral. As great as the ship should be during its time in the Caribbean, its run will be short lived as the company announced the Carnival Valor will take over the popular route in October 2016 on a full-time basis. The Carnival Victory would be moved to a new home port at that time.
It may appear the Carnival Sensation is being demoted, but that couldn't be farther from the case, as it will be moved to Miami in order to provide year-round four- and five-day cruises beginning on Feb. 25, 2016.
Another major change Carnival Cruise Line made was with the announcement that Carnival Magic-one of the newest ships in the company's fleet-would be taking over seven-day Caribbean voyages from Port Canaveral in 2016.
What separates Carnival Magic from other vessels in the fleet are the Fun Ship 2.0 innovations. From a WaterWorks aqua park featuring a 312-foot-long Twister water slide to the SportSquare outdoor recreation area, there is something for every member of the family aboard the ship.
Carnival Magic makes its first journey from Port Canaveral on Dec. 9, 2016, and will begin venturing on two different year-round seven-day cruises starting on Dec. 17, 2016, one going through the western islands in the Caribbean and the other traveling through the eastern islands..
The ship will also join Carnival Sunshine to fulfill seasonal five- to eight-day Caribbean voyages from Port Canaveral.
