Carnival Cruise Lines has revamped its wedding program to create easy-to-book but still customizable packages for ceremonies on the ships or in tropical ports of call.
The packages now feature upgraded floral arrangements, decorations, photography, food, beverages and cakes. Carnival already does more than 2,600 ceremonies each year. The shipboard weddings are done on embarkation day in port.
New multi-tiered wedding cake choices include chocolate ganache, coconut cream, and red velvet, all baked on board. Extras include a decorated wedding aisle, nicer champagne flutes and other keepsake items.
Carnival added new destinations - Grand Turk and Freeport - to the wedding packages, which already included Barbados, Grand Cayman, St. Thomas, and the private Bahamian island of Half Moon Cay.
As an example, the "Just You & Me" shipboard wedding package for up to eight people is priced from $1,355 and includes the ceremony, bouquet and boutonniere, tiered wedding cake with keepsake topper, Champagne toast with keepsake flutes, photography services, decorated wedding aisle, pre-recorded music and an officiant (although couples can bring along their own clergy.
The "Time to Celebrate" package for 20 guests starts at $1,795 and includes the amenities of "Just You & Me" plus a one-hour reception with an open bar, hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, and coffee and tea service. The "Island Breeze" package, priced from $1,395, includes a ceremony at an island location and round-trip transportation to the venue.
Wedding packages include services of a personal wedding planner and priority check-in and boarding for wedding guests. Wedding packages can be customized with music and videography services at an additional cost. Also available are renewal of vows ceremonies performed by the ship's captain. The packages are not commissionable.
Carnival has updated its wedding website to reflect the new choices and created a glossy brochure for at-a-glance views of the offerings. An online version of the brochure will be available on the line's travel agent portal.
