Disney Destiny has reached another key construction milestone.
The Disney Cruise Line ship touched water for the first time last week at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Crews filled the building dock with water from the Ems River during what’s known as a “float up.”
The water helped lift the Disney Destiny from the floor of the chamber.
Then, the ship was guided to another place in the building to undergo a series of onboard systems tests. After checking the main engines, the construction team will continue to build the ship’s interior spaces.
Disney Destiny is slated to debut in November and will have a “heroes and villains” theme.
The 144,000-gross-ton ship will be able to accommodate up to 4,000 guests as it sails to The Bahamas and Western Caribbean.
