Hurtigruten is unveiling two new Svalbard itineraries for 2026 and beyond.
The newly announced offerings, which are either 13 or 17 days long, combine Hurtigruten’s popular Svalbard Line with several activities on land. Travelers can enjoy days of excursions in Svalbard, as well as the popular “Norway in a Nutshell” tour prior to boarding the ship in Bergen.
Hurtigruten will also be adding its Open Village experiences to the Svalbard Line next summer. Under the new program, which was announced earlier this month, guests can participate in exclusive, community-led experiences in three tranquil and remote coastal villages—Træna, Bessaker and Sæbø.
“With these new tours, our guests can enjoy even more authentic and immersive Svalbard experiences to get the most out of this unique destination,” says Carly Biggart, head of Hurtigruten in the Americas. “And onboard, our Signature concept offers a premium, all-inclusive experience onboard, while guests will enjoy the spectacular scenery that the Norwegian coast offers.”
Hurtigruten also recently announced that it is doubling capacity on the Svalbard Line due to growing demand. Starting next summer, the company will have two ships sailing the Svalbard Line, which is part of Hurtigruten’s premium “Signature” concept.
Since Hurtigruten debuted the Svalbard Line in 2023, demand from North American travelers has been steadily increasing. Case in point: The company recorded a more than 40 percent increase year-to-date from travel advisors.
“Svalbard is becoming increasingly popular with North American travellers, especially thanks to coolcation and set-jetting trends,” says Biggart. “With double the departures of Svalbard Line from next summer, we are able to continue to offer guests the very best of both mainland Norway and Svalbard.
