MSC Cruises’ newest ship is one step closer to making her debut: MSC World America has successfully completed sea trials in the Atlantic Ocean.

The ship recently completed her final sea trial, a deep-water intensive systems test. Crews will now put the finishing touches on the vessel at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France.

MSC World America will be delivered to the cruise line on March 27.

The 6,762-guest vessel will then head to Miami for a naming ceremony on April 9 at the new MSC Cruise Terminal. MSC World America’s maiden voyage will be a celebratory sailing to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the company’s private island in the Bahamas, before officially deploying in the Caribbean Sea.

The ship is MSC Cruises’ 23rd vessel and the third to be powered by liquified natural gas; it also has shore power capabilities, an advanced wastewater treatment plant and a comprehensive recycling program.

MSC World America will homeport in Miami and offer alternating 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. Guests will be able to explore destinations like Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; Isla de Roatan, Honduras; and Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.
