The new Great Tides Waterpark at Great Stirrup Cay will open September 4, Norwegian Cruise Line announced today.
The nearly six-acre waterpark, located on the company’s private island in the Bahamas, will start welcoming guests during a seven-day Caribbean sailing aboard new ship Norwegian Luna. The voyage will depart from Miami on August 29.
Starting May 28, all guests sailing to Great Stirrup Cay on or after September 4 can purchase day passes to Great Tides Waterpark. They can also reserve private cabanas for up to six guests, which includes admission into the waterpark.

“Great Stirrup Cay continues to evolve as the premier private island destination in the Bahamas,” says Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “With the best activities for families and for every type of traveler—from high-energy slides to laid-back lagoon experiences—guests can purchase their day passes ahead and lock in an unforgettable day on the most spectacular private island in the Caribbean beginning tomorrow.”
The waterpark will include 19 waterslides, cliff jumps, a 9,000-square-foot splash zone, swim-up bars, a nearly 800-foot dynamic river, a new jet karts water track and other experiences. One of the highlights is the new Tidal Tower, a 170-foot-tall tower featuring eight different waterslides.

The waterpark will build on other recent upgrades at Great Stirrup Cay, including the Great Life Lagoon, adults-only Vibe Shore Club, the 3,400-square-foot Splash Harbor splash pad and a new tram system.
Norwegian Cruise Line is also building a new pier that will be able to accommodate two ships simultaneously. The pier will also eliminate the need for guests to tender from their ship to the island, a tricky proposition during the winter months. The double-berth pier is on track for completion by the end of the summer.
