Norwegian Cruise Line is eliminating the cover charges for the Asian restaurants on 11 of its ships starting in mid-April.
The line previously charged $15 but eliminated it on the Norwegian Star after it emerged from a dry-dock renovation in mid-March.
"We've been so excited by the reception from our guests to adding a complimentary venue to Norwegian Star that we have decided to make the Asian restaurant and the noodle bar across our fleet complimentary come the middle of April," Norwegian President and COO Andy Stuart said in a travel agent webinar this week. "Guests on Norwegian Star love it and have given us great, great feedback. We think this is a great new addition to our offerings."
The Asian eateries will become complimentary on all ships except for Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun. It includes Orchid Garden on Norwegian Gem, Lotus Garden on Norwegian Pearl, Chin Chin on Norwegian Jewel, Jasmine Garden on Norwegian Jade, Bamboo on Norwegian Dawn, Ginza on Norwegian Star, Shogun on Norwegian Spirit, East Meets West on Pride of America, Shanghai's on Norwegian Epic and Shanghai's Noodle Bar on Norwegian Breakaway and Getaway.
The Asian restaurant menus include offerings such as spring rolls, barbecue pork spare ribs, hot-and-sour soup, cashew chicken, orange peel beef, shrimp in black bean sauce, steamed sea bass Cantonese, Kung Pao chicken, and rice and lo mein noodle dishes with beef, chicken and shrimp, according to an online sample menu for Shanghai's on Norwegian Epic.
