Oceania Cruises will expand its culinary offerings this spring when it unveils nearly two dozen new classes for its Culinary Center.
According to a press release published on Thursday, the Miami-based cruise line's new programs will kick off on board the Marina and Riviera in April 2015.
The classes will include a two-day immersion program and a session centered on the legacy of Chef Jacques Pepin as well as Gourmet Explorer Series additions designed to highlight cooking styles from an array of international destinations.
"In our Culinary Center, guests cook under the instruction of faculty members who are CIA graduates and have apprenticed under a who's who of renowned chefs," said Director of Culinary Enrichment Chef Kathryn Kelly, who developed the new classes. "We continue to add new topics to keep things fresh for past guests and this year we're proud to honor our consummate teacher, Jacques Pepin, with a special class."
The new Culinary Center Immersion Program will focus on improving the skills of a home chef by teaching essential techniques pertaining to everything from creating sauces to preparing vegetables.
The program, which includes a unique team competition among guests, features four total sessions, spread out over the morning and afternoon of two consecutive days.
Naturally, the Celebrate Jacques Pepin program will center on many of the techniques featured in Pepin's books "La Technique" and "Essential Pepin." Throughout the course, guests will learn and develop basic techniques for cooking eggs, proteins, vegetables, sauces and desserts.
Lastly, the new regional classes will showcase cuisine from Morocco, Peru, the Pacific Northwest and other parts of the world. But the regional influence doesn't stop with the food. Guests will learn cooking techniques inspired by regional cultures as well.
Oceania Cruises' official Twitter account recently showcased the recipe for a Caribbean favorite:
Planet Veggie, Viva Tapas and At Home in Sicily are just a few of the new classes coming in 2015.
