Oceania Cruises continues to expand its offerings, this time launching its Culinary Discovery Tour series on select European voyages, according to an announcement on Monday.
The new tours will be offered by the Miami-based cruise line on spring and summer sailings aboard the Marina and Riviera, and will debut in a handful of European cities, including Barcelona and Marseille.
Guests on the special cruises will be accompanied by a chef instructor from the Culinary Center, Oceania Cruises' hands-on cooking school. Passengers can expect to learn about, taste, and cook local cuisine throughout their trip.
"Culinary traditions are at the heart of many cultures around the world, and with our Culinary Discovery Tours we're able to provide guests with the unique opportunity to share firsthand in those traditions," said executive chef and Oceania Cruises director of culinary enrichment Kathryn Kelly in a statement.
"On our new tours, guests spend time in the kitchen with local culinary experts and renowned chefs learning about regional ingredients and cooking customs that have influenced European cuisine for centuries," added Kelly. Our goal is for guests to walk away with new culinary skills, satisfied taste buds, and a deeper appreciation for the vibrant culinary traditions found in Europe."
Participating guests headed to Barcelona will take part in the Chef's Gastronomy Tour and Tapas Lunch, which features a tour of some of the city's top culinary establishments and food markets.
Meanwhile, the Michelin Chef Reine Sammut and Aix-en-Provence Market Tour will be offered in Marseille. Passengers taking part will also sample local cuisine en route to learning about new foods and preparation methods.
Additional debut tours, classes and lunches will be offered in Antibes, France, Catania, Italy, and Heraklion, Greece.
The Marina and Riviera, built in 2011 and 2012 respectively, both hold 1,250 guests at double occupancy and feature Culinary Centers onboard.
This spring's announcement comes two months after the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. subsidiary unveiled dozens of new classes at its Culinary Center.
