Veteran cruise ship captain Kate McCue announced on social
media that she is resigning from Four Seasons Yachts and unveiled plans to step away from
the cruise industry.
According to Cruise Critic, McCue revealed that her father's health and
her mother's death contributed to her decision to leave Four Seasons Yachts,
just two years after joining the cruise brand for its inaugural season.
McCue revealed she was stepping down to “begin a new
chapter,” saying that she wants to spend more time with her family and pursue
happiness in other ventures, but she did keep the door open for an eventual
return to the industry.
“I’m incredibly grateful, of course, to everyone who was on
this journey and all the opportunities I’ve had,” McCue said. “If you’re
wondering, I am keeping my captain’s license active so sailing again is
absolutely not off the table.”
Dubbed the “Most Followed Mariner on Social Media,” McCue
captained the 222-guest Four Seasons I ship since March 18, 2025.
Previously,
she spent a decade with Celebrity
Cruises, where she became the cruise industry's first American female
captain in 2015.
