Royal Caribbean International is sharing new details about its forthcoming ship, Star of the Seas, including a dog named Sailor who will live onboard.

The 5,610-guest vessel is under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland and is slated to debut in August 2025. Star of the Seas is an Icon-class ship—the same category as Royal Caribbean’s new Icon of the Seas, the largest cruise ship in the world. Royal Caribbean opened bookings for Star of the Seas in early December.

When the ship debuts next summer, Star of the Seas will homeport at Port Canaveral in Orlando, Florida, where it will join the newly launched Utopia of the Seas. Star of the Seas will offer 7-day sailings to the Caribbean—including visits to Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Star of the Seas will feature some of the same amenities and spaces as Icon of the Seas, such as the expansive Royal Promenade and the plant-lined Central Park. Like Icon of the Seas, Star of the Seas will also have The Hideaway, an adults-only area; Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea; and Surfside, an all-day neighborhood for families.

Star of the Seas will also be getting its own resident dog, thanks to the wild popularity of Rover, a pup who lives onboard Icon of the Seas. Star of the Seas’ dog will be named Sailor, reports the Points Guy.

But travelers will also notice a few new twists on Star of the Seas. Icon’s Empire Supper Club is being reborn as Lincoln Park Supper Club, a 1930s Chicago-inspired venue that combines multiple courses with live entertainment.

“Star of the Seas is the second bold act of this exciting, new era of vacations first introduced with Icon of the Seas, and it's putting the world's best vacation on the map at yet another top travel destination,” says Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. “More adventurers than ever can set their sights on the only vacation that combines the best of all vacations—from the beach retreat to the resort escape and the theme park adventure—with experiences that have and will continue to make headlines and memories for years to come.”
