The opportunity to visit some of Southeast Asia's most sought-after destinations is one not to be missed. To see these places from the bow of a tall sailing ship moves the experience to the top of one's bucket list.

Star Clippers offers four unique, seven-day sailings aboard the Star Clipper, which will ply the waters between Phuket, Thailand and Singapore from October 2017 to April 2018 before relocating to sail the waters around Bali between May and October 2018.

Here's a sampling of what's in store:

Northern Phuket

The cruise starts on Phuket, Thailand's largest island, where lush tropical landscapes and rubber plantations are mixed with some of the world's most stunning beaches. Next stop is Ko Surin, a diver's paradise known for its fantastic array of marine life. No wonder it's one of the premier dive destinations in Asia.

The Similan Islands are a tropical paradise and another world-renowned site for divers. From there, it's off to Hin Daeng, which is considered by many to be among the most dramatic dive sites in Thailand.

Other ports of call include Ko Rok Nok, Ko Kradan, Phang Nga Bay and Ko Hong in Thailand and Malaysia's Langkawi.

Southern Phuket

Setting sail from Phuket, the first port of call is either Ko Butan or Ko Adang in Thailand, two islands characterized by stunning rock formations and crystal clear waters. From there, head to the "Pearl of the Orient," Malaysia's Penang, where you will have the opportunity to visit the capital of Georgetown.

The Butang Group of islands is next on the itinerary and is about as untouched as possible in this day and age. Then it's off to Ko Rok Nok and Phang Nga Bay, where sheer mountains rise majestically out of the sea. Next stop is Ko Hong, which offers pristine white silica-sand beaches and one of the prettiest bays in the region.

The Similan Islands are the final destination before heading back to Phuket.

Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore

Phuket's magnificent beaches are where the journey begins. From there, you'll depart for Ko Similan, with scenery so striking it seems straight out of a dream. Then, it's off to Phang Nga Bay, where white beaches and rich coral reefs make for ideal snorkeling and diving.

With a large internal lagoon and striking beaches shaded by large monolithic rocks, Ko Hong is an ideal place to while away the day. Protected by the Ko Tarutao National Park, the Butang Group of islands and Ko Adang are so off the beaten path that few tourists ever visit and are next on the agenda.

From there, set sail for Penang before spending a day at sea. Malacca is the next port of call. It was here that the spice trade had its origins, and today visitors will be fascinated by the private mansions that Dutch, Portuguese and British rulers left behind.

The final destination is Singapore, which, with its looming skyscrapers, presents an interesting juxtaposition to the tranquil Andaman Sea.
