Cloud Cruises, one of the world's most storied names in cruise travel, has
announced that two veteran broadcast journalists will be guest lecturers on
upcoming 2024 sailings aboard Sea Cloud Spirit.
Award-winning NBC Producer Joel Seidman will join the Bilboa
to the Azores sailing July 23 - August 4, and Kerry Sanders, the familiar face
of NBC’s “TODAY” for over 30 years, will be the featured speaker on a special
St. Maarten roundtrip voyage November 27- December 4 voyage. Each
itinerary includes no more than 136 guests and offers onboard lectures and
discussions, calls on boutique ports, and sails under Sea Cloud Spirit’s 28 hand-hoisted
sails.
“Traveling on the Sea Cloud Spirit, her spacious lounge is
particularly conducive to rich conversation and special lecturers onboard
further enhance those authentic moments for guests,” shares Sea Cloud Cruises
President North America Mirell Reyes.
She adds, “Our guests are in for a treat as Joel and Kerry
share tales from their travels across the globe reporting on moments that have
defined modern history as we know it today.”
The voyage from Bilboa, Spain includes Gijón, a day under full
sails, three overnights in Porto (Leixões), followed by three days under full
sails and overnight in Ponta Delgada/São Miguel/Azores.
The St. Maarten roundtrip includes Philipsburg/St. Maarten, a
day under full sails, visits to Terre-de-Haut/ Îles des Saintes, Soufrière/St.
Lucia, Cabrits, Dominica, another day under full sails followed by Gustavia,
St. Barthélemy and Philipsburg/St. Maarten.
Joel Seidman is an Emmy-award-winning storyteller who currently
creates exclusive reports on “NBC Nightly News,” “Today,” and “NBC News Now.” He
has received five Emmy Awards, an Edward R. Murrow Award, and six CINE Gold
Eagles.
Seidman has brought audiences on adventures across the
globe, from rainforests in Central America to helicopter landings on warships
in the Arctic, to close encounters with polar bears in far northern Canada.
Seidman has flown with F-22 Raptors in Alaska, heading at supersonic speed to
intercept Russian Bear Bombers and embarked on a U.S. Navy guided missile
Destroyer performing sub-hunting. In addition, he exclusively interviewed the
4-star general whose sole mission is protecting the U.S. in outer space.
For 32 years, Kerry Sanders was NBC’s Miami-based
correspondent, contributing regularly to “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt,”
“Today” and MSNBC. From swimming with bull sharks during a live report to his
personal interests in the environment and animals, Sanders was a regular face
on the Today Show.
He has been in the journalism field for 40 years, covering
more than 100 named storms, including Hurricanes Andrew, Hugo and Katrina.
During the Iraq war, Sanders embedded with the U.S. Marine Corps and reported
on various battles, including the harsh 11-day conflict in Nasiriyah. He has
also covered countless elections, such as the 2008 Presidential race, which
came down to Palm Beach County results. Kerry has earned multiple Emmy awards,
Edward R Murrow awards, George Foster Peabody and Columbia Dupont awards.
