As more and more cruises continue to feature Cuba, so too is ShoreTrips adding to its offerings with newly available tours in Cienfuegos.
Five private and personal excursions within the port town are available as well as two out to the island nation’s capital city of Havana.
Full Day in Cienfuegos with Lunch
This flagship six-hour excursion is part walking tour and part navigated via air-conditioned vehicle. The UNESCO World Heritage Site city originally built by the French is explored architecturally along the Punta Gorda district as well as La Plaza, La Punta and the Prado Promenade.
Other highlights include the Paseo de Reina, La Calzada de Dolores, Gloria Street, Villuendas Main Square, San Carlos Street, September 5th Avenue, Rancho Luna Beach and Pasacaballos Hotel. The walking portion specifically highlights the Boulevard, Jose Marti Main Square, Tomas Terry Theater, the Cathedral, Acisclo del Valle Palace, Union Hotel and Nuestra Sra de Los Angeles de Jagua Fortress.
Additionally, a taste of the area is also included courtesy of lunch at a fisherman’s house in El Perche, itself a fishing village. Prices begin at $134 per person.
Serious Walking Tour of Cienfuegos
A bit shorter and also less expensive is the four-hour walking excursion starting at $55 per person. Similar are strolls along the way including Prado Promenade skirting the Malecon sea wall and Cienfuegos Boulevard, the longest in the country. Jose Marti Square again showcases monuments like Arco de los Trabajadores (Arch of Triumph for Cuban independence) and beautiful mansions such as Palacio Ferrer.
Walk and Pedi-Taxi Through Cienfuegos
For a few dollars more beginning at $68 per person, another four-hour jaunt takes to the city in a different fashion. Walking highlights are comparable to the other tours, but a pedi-cab takes visitors through Punta Gorda, La Plaza, Aciscio del Valle Palace and La Punta. It’s a means of experiencing Cienfuegos like a local.
Walk and Take a Cool Ride Through Cienfuegos
At the same length and just a pinch more in cost starting at $70 per person, this tour is designed for those who would rather remain in air conditioning than hop in a bike taxi. Otherwise, stops along the way are quite similar including Tomas Terry Theatre, the Cienfuegos Cathedral, Union Hotel, Aciscio del Valle Palace and La Punta, all with just brief walks.
Take a Classic Car Around Town
Also for four hours, a classic car ride is the final regional option beginning at $98 per person. This is the way to get in all the iconic spots of Cienfuegos in style. Only a short walk is quickly scheduled besides rumbling down the road.
However, if Cienfuegos is your only means of reaching Havana, there is another pair of tours to the capital. A 13-hour one starts at $213 per person and encompasses Old Havana, a classic car tour to Modern Havana, lunch at an Old Havana restaurant and a drink at both the Hall of Fame Bar and La Vitrola or Ambos Mundos hotel.
Particularly special, though, is the 16-hour variety that includes an overnight in Havana at either Saratoga or Melia Cobhiba Hotels beginning at just $644 per person. Roundtrip touring is split across two days with optional itineraries.
