Independent marine terminal operator SSA Marine has launched a new dedicated cruise division—and the company has named cruise industry veteran Stefano Borzone as president.
Borzone’s resume includes several senior vice president roles with Carnival Corporation. He also spent 13 years as president of Metro Cruise Services.
In the new role, Borzone will oversee SSA Marine cruise operations and will focus on meeting the needs of cruise lines and their customers.
The company’s new business unit will “focus on expanding the company’s long-term partnerships with major cruise lines, as well as developing innovative, value generating solutions for its cruise, port, and destination partners,” according to the company.
Safety, labor relations and sustainability will also be top priorities.
“Establishing a standalone cruise division is a unique opportunity to build on the strong foundation that our talented team of terminal operators from SSA Marine and Ceres have established with our cruise line customers and port authorities,” says Uffe Ostergaard, chief executive officer of Carrix, SSA Marine’s parent company.
“Adding Stefano’s deep industry experience and leadership to the team will be instrumental as we accelerate the growth of this significant line of business in the years ahead.”
