Viking has ordered two new cruise ships from Fincantieri, with the option to build four additional ships in the future.
The two companies have signed contracts for two new ships to be completed in 2030. If Viking decides to have Fincantieri build the four additional ships, those will be ready in 2031 and 2032.
The new vessels will have 499 cabins and will be able to accommodate 998 passengers. Their gross tonnage will be around 54,300 tons.
The two companies have worked together since 2012. In total, Fincantieri has built 22 ships for Viking, including its two purpose-built expedition ships.
“This new order represents another step forward in our collaboration with Viking, further consolidating Fincantieri as a global leader in naval engineering innovation,” says Pierroberto Folgiero, chief executive officer and managing director of Fincantieri.
