River cruising is fast becoming one of the most popular ways to tour Europe, but if you are still on the fence, Cruise Hive shared a few reasons why this experience is a must.
Cruise Hive's Christine Antoinette Guinto writes that river cruise ships "are quieter, cozier ships that glide through picturesque, at times historical, river banks."
She notes that an advantage of river cruising is that it's usually all inclusive.
"While river cruises are not exactly scrimping on onboard fancies, there are less to almost no 'add-ons' to surprise you when you end your cruise. Costs are usually upfront, and any add-ons to the basic package are availed of and paid for when you book your cruise," says Guinto.
Another advantage: Tours are part of the package.
"You will be going to key points in the city you're visiting, and will be given the opportunity to fully explore it. Sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee, visit a museum, see ancient castles, mingle with the locals, sample local cuisine - your list of things to do on land (and onboard) is never boring," writes Guinto.

She also notes that river cruises "provide a laidback, educational, culture-rich experience."
