The Bahamas has
quietly become one of the Caribbean’s most exciting culinary destinations,
thanks to a wave of celebrity chefs, luxury resorts, and a renewed focus on
fresh, local seafood. From oceanfront fine dining to lively Italian feasts,
these eight restaurants deliver the kind of memorable meals that define a trip.
1. DUNE by
Jean-Georges
Set at The Ocean
Club, A Four Seasons Resort, this is arguably the most refined dining
experience in the Bahamas. Helmed by Michelin-acclaimed chef Jean-Georges
Vongerichten, DUNE blends French-Asian techniques with Bahamian ingredients.
Expect dishes like
conch (pronounced "konk") salad, black truffle pizza, and fresh local
lobster served against sweeping ocean views. It’s elegant without being stiff,
and consistently ranked among the best on the island.
Pro tip:
Request a seat outside for gorgeous sunsets, and spot the fish in the lily pad
pond on your way out.
2. Fish by José
Andrés
Located at The
Cove at Atlantis, this is the resort’s flagship seafood restaurant, and for
good reason. Chef José Andrés brings creativity and technique to Bahamian
staples, showcasing sustainably sourced seafood like lionfish and conch.
The menu is
inventive yet approachable, making it a standout for both special occasions and
repeat visits.
Bonus: Google
reviews regularly call out the great service and wait staff.
3. Marcus at
Baha Mar Fish + Chop House
Celebrity chef
Marcus Samuelsson’s restaurant at Baha Mar is vibrant, energetic, and deeply
rooted in local flavor. The menu celebrates Bahamian seafood and global
influences, with a mix of comfort food and elevated dishes. The restaurant is
also known for its steak dishes.
4. Carmine's
Atlantis
If you want a
break from seafood, Carmine's delivers classic Italian-American comfort in a
high-energy, family-style format. Portions are famously large, making it ideal
for groups or families. It's not subtle, but that's exactly the point. (This
restaurant is also located in the Marina Village portion of the Atlantis
property, making it easy for non-hotel guests to find.)

5. Ocean Club
Golf Course Restaurant
Often overlooked,
this spot offers one of the most relaxed yet scenic dining experiences on
Paradise Island. While visiting, a cab driver told us it was his favorite spot
on the island. Overlooking lush greens and ocean views, it’s perfect for a
laid-back lunch or sunset dinner.
The menu leans
casual (grilled fish, salads, and cocktails), but the setting elevates
everything. Just check the operating hours before making the trip; the
restaurant tends to close early.
6. Paranza by
Michael White
Italian coastal
cuisine meets luxury dining at Paranza, one of Atlantis’ newer celebrity chef
concepts. Expect handmade pastas, crudos, and beautifully prepared whole fish.
It’s refined,
ingredient-driven, and ideal for those who want something polished but (maybe)
less formal than DUNE.
7. Ocean Blu at
Four Seasons Ocean Club
For a more relaxed
Four Seasons experience, Ocean Blu delivers beachfront dining with a lighter,
Mediterranean-inspired menu.
Think grilled
seafood, fresh salads, and cocktails steps from the sand: perfect for lunch
that turns into sunset drinks. Yes, you can go here if you aren't staying.
Bonus: They regularly have live music.
8. Fish Fry at
Arawak Cay
To understand
Bahamian cuisine, you have to experience the Fish Fry. This isn’t a single
restaurant but a collection of local spots serving fried fish, conch, peas and
rice, and cold drinks.
It’s casual,
authentic, and essential: the cultural counterpoint to the luxury dining scene.
