All anyone in the
disabled community wants is a chance. They just want the same access to live
the same life as everybody else. When it comes to
trudging through the sand, the beach has been especially cumbersome.
Now, the popular
tourist town of Cancun, Mexico, is trying to make it easier.
Cancun has inaugurated
its first fully inclusive beach and it’s not hidden away either. Cancun’s
Playa Las Perlas is one of the area’s most popular beaches and is the city’s
first official inclusive beach for the disabled.

Cancun Mayor Ana Paty Peralta said: “We can proudly say
that the beauty of our sea is accessible to everyone. We know that people with
disabilities face many obstacles and it is our responsibility, as a society, to
break them down one by one."
"With actions like these, we are closing those gaps
of inequality, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, can
enjoy these wonderful spaces," Peralta continued.
