Whether you view Spring Break as an opportunity to relax after a long winter or party for days on end, a premier destination should feature warm temperatures, plenty of sunshine and ample entertainment.
While there are typically countless spring break destination rankings featured on the Web this time of year, Twitter's top 10 is perhaps the most accurate.
According to USA Today's Maeve McDermott, the popular social media site "identified the trends behind this year's most-buzzed-about Spring Break destinations," and the result is a top 10 list sure to inspire you to get away this spring.

1. Negril, Jamaica (Country Country, Xtabi Resort)
2. Panama City, Florida (Comfort Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites Panama Ciy Beach - Pier Park Area)
3. Cancun, Mexico (Nizuc Resort & Spa, The Beloved Hotel Playa Mujeres)
4. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (Marriott's OceanWatch at Grande Dunes, Marina Inn at Grande Dunes)

The common feature a majority of the top 10 destinations share is their proximity to the equator. That's often a critical aspect considering that spring doesn't officially start until March 20.
Unsurprisingly, destinations in sun-covered states Florida and Texas comprise nearly half of the list.
In New Orleans and Austin, festivals like Mardis Gras and South by Southwest add to the allure this time of year. For Spring Break vacationers in Austin, a much different experience in South Padre Island, Texas is only a six-hour drive away.
Although landlocked Las Vegas doesn't offer any white sandy beaches or crystal clear waters, Sin City visitors are seldom bored given all there is to see and do along the Strip.
However, travelers will need no excuse to visit Cancun or Cabo San Lucas. Boasting ideal temperatures and world-class resorts, these Mexican cities are popular tourists spots year-round.
