Travelers have their sights set on a variety of destinations around the globe over the final third of 2023 but a handful of places are drawing more interest than others, according to Airbnb's recently released 2023 travel trends for the winter and holiday season.
Worldwide, Asia is one of the hottest regions for end-of-year travel.
Based on worldwide searches from January 1, 2023, to September 15, 2023, Osaka, Japan is the trendiest winter and holiday locale abroad, followed by Hong Kong, China; Quebec City, Canada; Taipei, Taiwan and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Other overseas cities garnering significant buzz this year include Hanover, Germany; Wanaka, New Zealand; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Muang Pattaya, Thailand and Tokyo, Japan.
When it comes to families checking into an Airbnb between November 1 and December 31, 2023, global searches from January 1, 2023, to September 15, 2023, reveal Tokyo to be the trendiest city. Quebec City, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo also show up again on this list.

Families are also showing significant interest in Puerto del Carmen, Spain; Crucecita, Mexico; Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; Tignes, France and Nassau, The Bahamas.
Meanwhile, U.S. travelers are looking to warm up this winter, often searching for places like Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; San Salvador, El Salvador; Oaxaca, Mexico; Havana, Cuba; La Fortuna, Costa Rica; Cali, Colombia and Culebra, Puerto Rico.
Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Nassau are also popular among this group, Airbnb found.
Interestingly, the home-sharing service also found that the most searched Airbnb Categories for winter and holiday travel are "amazing pools," "beach," "tropical," "national parks" and "iconic cities." Other popular categories include "amazing views," "golfing," "cabins," "countryside" and "surfing."
