All eyes will shift to Cleveland, Ohio, Monday for the start of the 2016 Republican National Convention. Looking to take advantage, the state's tourism agency plans to roll out a virtual reality (VR) experience that will showcase what Ohio has to offer.
The 360 degree VR experience will be available outside of Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland for the duration of the RNC from July 18 through 21.
RNC attendees will be able to hop inside of a 40-passenger bus and view up to 16 different videos that were captured using specialized cameras.
Highlights include riding Cedar Point's Millennium Force roller coaster, zip Lining in Hocking Hills, a flyover of the Cincinnati Museum Center and exploring the Franklin Park Conservatory and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, among others.
"The 360 degree Virtual Reality Experience capitalizes on visitors coming to Cleveland for the RNC and showcases Ohio to them in a way that's never been done before," said TourismOhio Director Mary Cusick in a statement. "Our research shows that consumers are more likely to return to Ohio after they've experienced our state once."
"We believe virtual reality will build interest for future trips by showing show users the excitement and joy that are part of visiting Ohio destinations."
TourismOhio will also launch the VR experience at this month's upcoming National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) National Convention in Cincinnati.
If you can't make it to Cleveland in time for next week's RNC, you can view Ohio's 360 degree VR experience from your computer, smartphone, tablet or VR headset by clicking here.
