The Walt Disney Company and WWE are reportedly exploring new
ways to bring the professional wrestling brand to Disney destinations,
including potential live events and a themed Disney Cruise Line (DCL)
experience.
According to WrestleZone.com, the discussions follow comments from TKO
President and Chief Operating Officer Mark Shapiro, who recently said WWE and
Disney are working on “special events” planned for 2027 that would bring the
companies’ family audiences together.
WWE is reportedly considering Disney venues for future live
events and fan experiences, including the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at
the Walt Disney World Resort, which could accommodate wrestling events and
larger fan-focused activities.
Additional reports indicate the potential collaboration
could extend beyond Walt Disney World, as WDW News Today reported that WWE is considering a themed
experience for the DCL, although the concept remains unconfirmed.
The potential cruise offering could allow Disney’s cruise
guests to participate in WWE-themed activities as the brands look for ways to
combine their family-oriented audiences.
The companies already have a major connection through ESPN,
which holds the media rights to WWE’s Premium Live Events (PLEs) in the United
States under a five-year contract. Disney has not officially announced any
specific event, venue, cruise ship, or WWE-themed experience.
