Top Scottish climber Dave MacLeod is now working with VisitScotland to promote the Adventure Travel World Summit, which is being held in Scotland next week for the first time. "I can't imagine a better place for adventurers to visit than Scotland" said MacLeod. "The scenery is breathtaking and rock climbing in a kilt gives you an enormous sense of freedom. Anyone who loves the great outdoors should come here."
Mike Cantlay, chairman of VisitScotland also commented on adventures in Scotland, "Whether you are into rock climbing, bungee jumping or, for the slightly less adventurous, taking a stroll and enjoying the stunning scenery, there are an enormous range of exciting outdoor activities available," he said. Scotland will host the Adventure Travel World Summit this October in partnership with the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA).
Lauded by the world's top mountain biking authority the International Mountain Bike Championships Scotland's adventure tourism has been on the upswing annually. In 2009, and against the backdrop of a global recession, Scotland still managed to grow its adventure tourism sector by 44 percent in volume and 36 percent in value year on year according to estimates from VisitScotland, the national tourism body.
