Disneyland, turning 60 this year, has amassed a treasure trove of attractions over the years. But before Star Tours, the Matterhorn or Pirates of the Caribbean, it was just a massive construction site.
Disney Parks (h/t Awesomer) reminds us of that brilliant fact with a short but wholly sweet time-lapse video that illustrates the budding infancy of a park that has entertained millions over its lifespan.
The YouTube channel delves into the following video: "As we prepare to celebrate 60 years of memories and magic during the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, we've been looking back at key moments in our history. Times when Disneyland pushed the limits of what was possible and created new, innovative experiences for our guests."
To that end, they present this video.
This is a small drop in a very illustrious bucket, because we previously noted how Disneyland plans to throw itself one big bash this summer.
The Diamond Celebration will include highlights such as a revamped parade and fireworks show for revelers who happen to be at the park during this special moment in Disney's history.
As you walk down Main Street, taking in the inviting smells, you might want to remember that at one time this was a flat Anaheim expanse that served as a blank canvas for park designers.
From wooden planks and unsightly scaffolding an empire of clam chowder bowls and long summer queues was born.
As the video illustrates, Disneyland will be the one offering the gifts this year.
