Hey, Don't Show Your Butts at That Sacred Site

Two American tourists were arrested in Thailand Tuesday after they took photos exposing their bare butts in front of a sacred temple in Bangkok.
According to The Bangkok Post, 38-year-old United States citizens Travis and Joseph Dasilva were stopped by immigration authorities at Don Mueang International Airport as they attempted to leave the country Tuesday night.
Immigration police officials questioned the men about exposing themselves for pictures in front of the Wat Arun Temple in Bangkok, and the suspects admitted to the crime. The Dasilvas were arrested and remain in police custody.
The Thailand Government said the two travelers could face jail time for the photo since there are signs clearly visible that list appropriate clothing and actions near the site.
“The charge would not be a normal public indecency charge,” Thai officials said in a statement. “Instead, they would be charged with committing indecency in a place of worship, which carries a long jail term. This is a reminder that everyone should have respect for Thai religion and culture.”
In the past, the Dasilvas have exposed their butts in front of famous sites for their Instagram account, which has since been taken down, according to ABCNews.com.

San Diego City Commissioner Nicole Murray-Ramirez revealed the Dasilvas have reached out for assistance and they are working with American authorities to handle the situation.
“Though I am very disappointed in their actions, I am talking to U.S. government officials to see what assistance we can give them,” Ramirez said.
