Do you remember the rock band Puddle of Mudd from the early 2000s?
Of course not. Well, they're in the news again, but not for their musical prowess. Lead singer Wes Scantlin was thrown off a flight to Los Angeles for alcohol-related reasons.
A report from Fox 9 KMSP said Scantlin was on a flight from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport Saturday morning when the flight crew determined he was too intoxicated to be on the aircraft.
Local authorities arrived on the scene and were reportedly told by Scantlin that he wasn't drinking, but on pain medication. The police noted in their report that the lead singer's breath had a strong alcohol odor.
Scantlin told authorities that he wanted to stay on the flight in order to get to his next gig, and even called his agent to try to convince police to leave him on the plane. Despite his pleas, the authorities removed the singer from the aircraft- noting in the police report that he had tears in his eyes - and sent him via a taxi to a local hotel to sleep it off, Fox 9 KMSP said.
The next day, Scantlin was arrested for drunk driving and evading arrest in Renville County, Minnesota.
As wild as it sounds, this is not the first time the Puddle of Mudd singer has found himself in trouble with an airline. After being arrested at Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee this April for disorderly conduct, he was also arrested for riding the luggage carousel at the Denver International Airport two months later.
In addition to those arrests, Scantlin had a run-in with the law in 2012 for drug possession and was arrested for domestic violence in 2013.
