Miami, Florida, is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the United States, but for one man, watching his girlfriend go to the city of beautiful scenery and even more beautiful people was too much to handle.
According to GoFundMe.com, a man named Azel Prather Jr. started a fundraiser to raise enough money to travel to Miami to be with his girlfriend so she wouldn't be tempted to cheat on him while on spring break vacation. Who says romance is dead?
Prather made his original plea on the website, and it danced a fine line between devoted boyfriend and bona fide stalker:
As you know, spring break is fastly approaching and my youngin (pictured above) and her friends are going to Miami. If you know anything about Miami, you know that she shouldn't go without a chaperone. I need to get there to be with her and share this joyous time but my funds have been exhausted. We have a great thing going and I would hate to see it go down the drain for a little sand and sun. If you can find it in your heart to donate ANYTHING to help save my relationship I would greatly appreciate it. I just need a round trip flight. I will be staying wherever she lays her head, eating whatever she eats, and overseeing all parties and fun activitiy for the duration of the trip. I thank you in advance. Please fellas, I love her.
As of publishing this article, Prather's fundraiser had raised $355 from 28 different donations in just eight days on the website.
Thankfully, Prather was courteous enough to post updates throughout the experience to help the possible contributors understand his dilemma. He referenced his girlfriend's Instagram pictures from Miami getting a ton of likes and inferred that he would lose her if he didn't get to Florida fast.
The good news came via an update from Prather three days ago that claims he and his girlfriend had met up and were enjoying their spring break together. Thanks to all of the contributions from people willing to donate, Prather and his girlfriend are going to make this relationship work.
At least until Spring Break 2016.
